Programs/Services Supported by Membership

Membership plays a crucial role in providing quality programs and services that benefit the University, students and all alumni.

Jefferson Trust
The Jefferson Trust, an unrestricted endowment initiative of the Alumni Association, provides funding to the University’s various constituencies with the intent of enhancing the University’s margin of excellence.

U.Va. Fund
The Association serves the greater University community through its management of the U.Va. Fund. The U.Va. Fund provides a vehicle for students, faculty, friends and alumni to create special programs.

University of Virginia Magazine
Published by the Alumni Association since 1901, the publication is circulated quarterly to more than 200,000 U.Va. alumni, faculty, students and parents.

Alumni Career Services Center
Comprehensive career services—including self-assessment, career options, job search, graduate school advising and executive coaching—are offered to all alumni.

Admissions Liaison Program
This program provides a point of contact and a source of information for alumni families who have children applying to U.Va.

Class Councils and Fourth-Year Trustees
The Association provides staff and funding to support and advise students regarding class activities.

Young Alumni Council
Through the Young Alumni Council, the Association fosters programs that address the needs of alumni who have graduated in the last 12 years.

U.Va. Parents Committee
Established to enhance the on-Grounds experience for all students, this committee consists of families from all over the world.

Merit Scholarships and Awards
The Association administers more than 100 scholarships and annual awards recognizing student excellence.

Ridley Scholarship Foundation
The Ridley Scholarship Foundation provides scholarships for African-American students admitted to the University. The fund was named for the University’s first African-American graduate, Dr. Walter N. Ridley.

Alumni Interest Groups
The Association serves as an umbrella for a number of alumni groups sharing common ethnicity and affinities.

Reunions
Each year the Association hosts Reunions for classes celebrating reunions. Nearly 900 volunteers help coordinate and conduct activities for their respective classes. Seminars, class events and a gala create a memorable experience for alumni and their families.
