How Do I...

How do I become a member of the Alumni Association?

Alumni, students, and friends of the University can sign up online to support the Alumni Association by becoming members!

How can I stay up to date on what's going on at U.Va.?

There are numerous online resources for U.Va news. A list can be found on our Web Resources page.

What's the best way to get in touch with a fellow alum?

Our online alumni directory, HoosOnline, will allow you to search for old friends and classmates!

Where can I get a copy of my transcript?

Transcripts are available by mail from the registrar's office for $10 per copy. For more information, please visit the Office of the University Registrar.

How can I get a replacement or duplicate diploma?

These are available through the Office of the University Registrar for a fee. The University will waive the $50 diploma replacement fee for University graduates who lost their diplomas in the September 11 attacks on the World Trade Center and the Pentagon. Visit the Office of the University Registrar section of the U.Va. Web site.

How do I update my address?

You can update your address and other contact information online by updating your profile in HoosOnline, or you can call Alumni Hall at 434-243-9000.

How do I find other alums in my area?

You can search by geographical location in HoosOnline, or get in touch with other alums through the U.Va. Club in your area!

What is the Vmail E-mail for Life service and how do I enable it?

The University has contracted with Google to provide lifetime email for all alumni. These Vmail accounts use the suffix "@alumni.virginia.edu," like the old email forwarding system. Vmail accounts are not forwarding accounts, they are actual email accounts accessed via the web like any Google Gmail account.

If you used the old email forwarding system, your account name will be reserved for you for a limited time.

Once you have established your Vmail account, you can check your email and set up other options at: vmail.alumni.virginia.edu.

I am a student. Does the Alumni Association offer any programs for me?

Yes! This Web site has a section devoted to the Student Programs the Association offers, including Student Alumni Memberships, Internships, and the Class Council and Class Trustee programs.
