Admission Liaison Program (ALP)
Program Summary
The Admission Liaison Program (ALP) provides a point of contact and a source of information for alumni families who have children applying as a first-year or transfer applicant to one of U.Va.'s four undergraduate schools. Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday, the Admission Liaison Program hosts a legacy information session, which covers the role of the ALP in the admission process, legacy admission statistics and the basic elements of a competitive legacy application. After attending a legacy information session, alumni families may schedule individual meetings with the Director or Assistant Director of the ALP. The Director or Assistant Director will spend 30 minutes with the legacy and his/her parents. In the meeting, the Director or Assistant Director will review the student’s high school's profile and an unofficial copy of his/her transcript. This will provide the context for a concrete discussion about the student's record. The Admission Liaison Program is most helpful for high school sophomores, juniors and seniors.

"I wanted to follow up our visit to the University, and specifically to the Alumni Office and the legacy program, on Friday with this note of appreciation. I participated in this program two years ago with our oldest daughter, who is now a second-year student at the University. Because I was so impressed with the quality of the program at that time, I wanted our younger daughter to have the opportunity to participate as well. If I appreciated the effectiveness and helpfulness of the session in the past, I was doubly pleased with its quality, directness, and helpful practicality this time. My daughter, who has been through a rather rigorous campus visit schedule, found the entire approach to be superior to any other she has seen. Please accept my gratitude for the courtesy your office extended to us."

"Our first visit to the University and Alumni Hall was in late March of 2006. The day was cold and snowy, but the welcome was warm and full of valuable information. In separate meetings, both Cindy and Katherine were extremely helpful in explaining the University's requirements and the logistics of the application process. My daughter received a frank and honest analysis of her transcript as it related to her chances of being admitted. It was simply a terrific experience and one that I look forward to again when our son begins the college search. Again, thank you for all the individual attention our daughter received. It made me feel like I was coming home again to the place I love so much."
