Program Overview

VAAN is a collaborative effort by the Undergraduate Admission Office, U.Va. Clubs and the Alumni Association to extend and complement the recruiting efforts of our Undergraduate Admission Office. Through the VAAN program, volunteer alumni reach out to prospective students through person-to-person interaction.

During our pilot period (June 2007 through June 2009), our goal is to extend the efforts of the Admission Office to reach out to greater numbers of underrepresented high school students in five geographic areas: Tidewater Va., New York, Baltimore, Charlotte, and Atlanta. In succeeding years, we plan to extend the program geographically and to ultimately open the contact program to ALL potential applicants in the U.S. and abroad. Virginia will become the first public institution in the nation's top 25 to establish an alumni admission networking program.
