Prospective Students

VAAN meetings provide an opportunity for high school students to sit down with an alum from their local area and talk about U.Va. It is an opportunity for students to share their interests with alumni and to ask any questions they might have. Meetings are neither required nor evaluative and are meant only as an additional opportunity for the student to learn more about U.Va.

Scheduling the Meeting

The VAAN program is looking to assist students from underrepresented groups by giving them a better understanding of the University of Virginia's commitment to diversity. Students can request a meeting by visiting www.vaanvirginia.com, and they will be contacted by telephone within one week by an alumnus/a who will identify him/herself as a VAAN volunteer. The meeting is an informational meeting, not an interview, and not an official part of the application process. Meetings should last about 30 minutes.
