DECEMBER 2008

SCHOLARS' CORNER

Jennifer Erin Bristol

How has the school year been so far?
I had a fabulous start to my year! Now in my second year, this semester I've been balancing a challenging course load with my extracurricular activities. I'm trying to explore academically as much as possible so this semester in addition to my Commerce classes I'm taking an anthropology class on Mesoamerica, a history class on the Eastern European Jews, and a sociology class on race and ethnic relations (more).

What are you currently focusing on?
Currently, I'm focusing on my studies as I get ready for finals. I'm applying to the McIntire School of Commerce, so I've been adamant about doing well in my Accounting and Economics courses.

What are your goals for the upcoming year?
First, I would like to continue to do well in my classes and to make sure that I continue to explore my career options. I know that I am leaning towards business, but law also interests me as well. I want to figure out what exactly I want to do with my life, and hopefully pick a major that best suits my decision (more).

What does it mean for you to be a part of Ridley?
I'm honored to be a part of Ridley. I've met so many wonderful people through Ridley and I know that I have a support system to fall back on. During my First Year, transitioning was hard for me. As a New Yorker I didn't quite know if I would fit in at UVa (more).
