Make a Planned Gift
A growing number of alumni and friends choose to support the University of Virginia through financial or estate planning. This process is known as "gift planning" and the gifts are referred to as "planned gifts."
Planned Gifts may be of three types:
Plans from your estate
Bequests are gifts you establish through your estate plans. These plans include Wills or Living Trusts, Retirement Plans, Life Insurance
Plans that pay you an income
Plans that help the University now and your family later
The University uses the income from a gift you make for a specified period of time, and then returns the remainder to you or your heirs. This plan is called a Charitable Lead Trust
You make a gift to the University and receive income for your life or for the lives of the beneficiaries you choose. These plans include Charitable Gift Annuities and Charitable Remainder Trusts
